Save the Children: Senior Medical Officer- Obs and Gynae – Dhaka

The Opportunity

The incumbent will be a technical part of the health programme, with special focus on Sexual Reproductive Health in close collaboration with local health authorities, SRH working group and community members and will be working in Teknaf health facilities on a rotational basis. S/he provides direct involvement in high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies, including life-saving surgical and medical interventions. The role emphasises mentorship, supervision, and continuous professional development of medical officers, midwives, nurses, and allied health staff to build resilient teams and improve service delivery. Furthermore, the role is expected to engage with internal and external technical working groups and communities of practice, will work closely with the Paediatrician, Anesthesiologists, operating theatre staff and midwives, and will have direct communication with the other members of the clinical team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience practising independently as an Obs /Gynae (i.e., does not require supervision).
  • MBBS recognised by the BMDC with 2 years’ post-graduation training. 1 year’s job experience in the obstetric and gynaecological field, to date, evidence of current license and registration to practice.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote and insecure locations, in unstable areas
  • Previous experience in managing pediatric complications often associated with humanitarian emergencies.
  • Advanced life support, pediatric life support and neonatal life support trained or their equivalents
