Why does the job exist?
Registered Nurse – Supervisor/Healthcare Surveyor Supervisor will:
- Perform surveys and investigations of non-long term care facilities to determine their level of compliance with State and Federal regulations while providing effective supervision of Registered Nurse Healthcare surveyors.
How does it get done?
Registered Nurse Supervisor/Healthcare Surveyor – Supervisor is responsible for:
- Interviewing residents/clients/patients and staff of healthcare facilities;
- Evaluating the facility environment to ensure it meets safety and infection control standards;
- Reviewing records;
- Ensuring resident/client/patient rights, quality of care and quality of life meet regulation standards.
Who are the customers?
- Non-Long Term Care healthcare providers;
- Survey Manager;
- Program Operations Bureau;
- New Mexico residents receiving healthcare services.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting and in non-long term healthcare facilities with phone and extensive computer usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Frequent in-state travel with some overnight stays lasting up to a week. Some out-of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
