Why does the job exist?

The Healthcare Surveyor II/Licensed Oversight Healthcare Surveyor will:

  • Conduct surveys and investigations of Assisted Living Facilities, Adult Day Care Centers, Boarding Homes and Crisis Treatment Centers to determine their level of compliance with State regulations.

How does it get done?

The Healthcare Surveyor II/Licensed Oversight Healthcare Surveyor is responsible for:

  • Conducting initial, regulation review, complaint, and re-visit surveys and monitoring of unlicensed facilities statewide for healthcare facilities, including but not limited to Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs), Adult Day Cares (ADCs), Crisis Triage Centers (CTCs), and Boarding Homes (BHs) to determine their level of compliance with state regulations;
  • Investigating complaints of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the above listed facilities;
  • Testifying and participating in administrative hearings.

Minimum Qualification

Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and/or Criminal Justice and two (2) years directly related experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

  • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
  • If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of “semester hours” in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting and in healthcare facilities with phone and extensive computer usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive in-state with frequent overnight stays, is required. Some out-of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
