The Opportunity

Junior Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynae will be part of the technical leadership of the Hospital Program, with special focus on Sexual Reproductive Health in close collaboration with local health authorities, SRH working group and community members. Furthermore, the role is expected to engage with internal and external technical working groups and communities of practice. Junior consultants will work closely with the Pediatrician, Anesthesiologist, operation theatre staff and midwives, and will have direct communication with the other members of the clinical team. Capable of managing high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies, including life-saving surgical and medical interventions. The role emphasizes mentorship, supervision, and continuous professional development of junior doctors, midwives, nurses, and allied health staff to build resilient teams and improve service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience practicing independently as an obstetric /Gynae (i.e., does not require supervision). Up to date evidence of current license and registration to practice.
  • MBBS with MCPS / DIPLOMA/ FCPS/ MS and equivalent degree in Gynae and obstetric recognized by the BMDC having at least 2 years job experience in gynae and obstetric field preferably in Low resource settings like Rohingya camps.
  • Minimum of three months’ work/volunteering experience in Field hospital in low resource settings.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote and insecure locations and unstable areas.
  • Previous experience of managing obstetric complications often associated with humanitarian emergencies e.g. management of infectious diseases in pregnancy, clinical management of rape etc.
  • Familiar with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health in humanitarian settings
  • Advanced life support, pediatric life support and neonatal life support trained or their equivalents
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both inside and outside the organization.
