General Responsibilities
To function as a capable specialist for analysis, design and implementation to influence appropriate change utilizing technology resources within the healthcare work environment. Through clinical and technical experience, to develop greater awareness of the relationship between clinical practice and clinical applications. To perform various duties in the system life cycle to support the successful implementation of healthcare technologies that achieve customer goals.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Analyzes technologies and workflows to determine business needs as well as usability issues impeding operational efficiency. Seeks review of analyses from senior team members to improve skills.
2. Provides project oversight support and serves as the subject matter expert for assigned tasks.
3. Maintains collaborative relationships with teams to solve problems of medium complexity through enhancement or implementation of healthcare technology.
4. Demonstrates moderate levels of understanding with information systems.
5. Assists in developing technology related materials such as test scripts, system documentation, and procedures. Identifies appropriate medium for specific applications or projects.
6. Expands knowledge of clinical and business practice, information systems best practices as well as current technologies and capabilities.
7. Performs root cause analysis on identified issues and recommends remediation.
8. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and ethical behavior.
9. Provide system support for customers through routine rounding and implementation support as needed exhibiting excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
10. Performs a variety of duties with direction as needed, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure.
Possesses growing vision and perspective in all areas of decision-making.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and four (4) years of experience in direct patient care and four (4) years electronic medical record experience. One (1) year work experience with UAB preferred. Cerner applications experience preferred. Master’s degree preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
Active Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Alabama.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Four (4) years of Electronic Medical Record experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the clinical care delivery processes.
- Sound organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to lead and manage multifaceted situations.
- The ability to set priorities to effectively organize time, tasks, and information to manage projects or to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Cerner applications experience preferred.
